Again, the registry saved someone how? Oh, wait, it didn’t and couldn’t because the alleged victim was in a correctional facility when a person in a position of power and trust allegedly abused it and is looking to become a first time offender (which 95-97% of people are). I won’t give credit to the alleged accused person with an article link but Suffolk County, NY is the location of the allegations for your reference of reading. What is more heinous is the threat to place contraband if the request was not complied with.
This is more than a just a local crime, but a fed under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003 (P.L. 108-79).
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has an opinion or thoughts on this. I am “supposed” to be removed from my states registry in January, I say it in quotes because I’ll believe it when i see it, they said i would receive a letter from the state regarding this. My question is, should i do as the person in California did, take the letter if and when i get it and go to the registration office and ask them if i need to register for anything, and even ask them if they “will” register me as the Attorney General of the United States is ordering me to do?
And I am wondering why no one else in any other state who has gotten off the registry has not done what the person in California did, and why aren’t they concerned like he is about the Attorney General of the United States rule?
Many people are unaware of the de-registration option. But many many people do not qualify because the criteria to qualify is extremely narrow, is very costly at $15,000-$25,000 with no guarantee to have an elected judge approve the de-registration even if classified as low risk, have no re-offense and even if recommended after psychological testing by a specialized sex treatment provider. Elected judges do not want to appear soft on “sex offenders” or they risk having a very hard re-election battle. The process established by the legislature is stacked against the registrant on purpose…
So what happens when we die?
Will the final indignity be the police showing up at your house sometime after your birthday to find out why you didn’t go register? Will your family be forced to provide them a death certificate on the spot?
My situation is known only to my wife. Will my kids find out about me when the police show up looking for me? How badly would this shape my kid’s memory of me?

Michigan is trying to start a statewide animal abuse registry. Ohio has city and county animal abuse registries. Officials love a registry. Wonder if they’ll get retroactive with that one, once it passes. Which may lead to an elected official misappropriation registry, retroactive of course. Then, and only then, will registries fall.
